Land Trust Accreditation Renewal

Stakeholder Notification/Public Notice

Open Land Trust is pleased to announce that it is applying for renewal of accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. This national program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet high standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. A public comment period is now open.

Accreditation is important to Open Land Trust because it reflects our long-term commitment to ethical practices, strong governance, sound finances, and lasting conservation. As South Carolina’s first land trust, we believe accreditation demonstrates to our landowners, supporters, partners, and community that we are committed to doing this work with integrity and permanence.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
