Bay Street Bluff

The story of the Open Land Trust and the Bluff Vista project both start at the same time when a “For Sale” sign was placed on a waterfront lot along the eastern edge of Bay Street. This sign galvanized the citizens of Beaufort who realized that a precious view would be lost for residents and visitors houses were to be constructed on the site. Led by three dynamic individuals – OLT Founders Betty Waskiewicz, Margarite Borz, John Trask Jr – a bank loan was secured to purchase the lot and protect the scenic vista forever.
