61.34 acres • Hampton County

The Rivers Place is a 61.34-acre family farm and forest property in Hampton County, located on the either side of SC Highway 601 just east of Hampton, South Carolina. The Rivers Place has been in family ownership for many years. There is one residential structure located on the property, but the rest of the property is primarily used for rural recreation and enhancement of wildlife habitat. The Rivers Place is in the heart of an assemblage of other protected properties in Hampton County, the preservation of which ensures stability of rural land uses.

This property features an array of forest types from longleaf pine to copious amounts of planted hardwoods for deer and other wildlife. There is also a 20-acre cypress preserve located on the west side of the property providing for exceptional wildlife habitat for species desiring upland habitat as well as wetland habitat. The landowner takes great care in planting wildlife trees on an annual basis, most recently hand planting 2,500 long leaf pine saplings.

The Rivers Place is a great addition to more that 2,500 acres of protected land located in the vicinity. The properties are protected in perpetuity through conservation easements held by Beaufort County Open Land Trust, Lowcountry Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy. The property protects water quality by virtue of its limited impervious surface and its proximity to Sanders Branch, which drains into the Coosawhatchie River, the Broad River and ultimately into the Port Royal Sound. This collection of protected property contributes to the network of protected wildlife habitat, the protection of water quality in the Coosawhatchie watershed, and the scenic natural and rural character of the area.
